Microsoft Employees Disrupt Wii U Best Buy EventsRemember how Nintendo was showcasing some of their E3 games at participating Best Buy stores around the country? Well, apparently Microsoft employees have been hired to go to these events and preach about the Xbox One and make comments like "why would you buy a outdated Wii U when the Xbox One is right around the corner?"
However, the employees aren't getting what they hoped for. Most customers just start bashing the Xbox One in response. Seriously, Microsoft, the people attending these Best Buy Wii U events are people who are intimately familiar with the crap you pulled at E3. They ain't takin' your shit.
At first I thought this might just be a case of one really loyal Microsoft employee taking matters into his own hands (especially since the original source was /v/), but reports have come in from numerous Best Buy's around the country that indicate many Microsoft employees have ambushed the demo lines trying to persuade people to switch to the Xbox One.

The Used Game ParadigmOver the course of this past generation I've been watching the video game market react to the way it's been forced to deal with increasing changes. I've come out against used game sales and even written a journal about boycotting GameStop because (like most people at the time) I believed they were the root cause of all the problems the video game industry has. But that's something I don't believe now as intently as i did then. From where I sit, piracy and used games sales are a problem, but not in the way game companies want us to believe that they are.
Used games are a good thing for consumers. We get to try games out, and if we don't like what we see or finish it early, we trade it in and try another title instead. It's a very good system for us since video game rentals are much harder to come by. Most video rental stores in America have gone extinct and outside specific Red Box Kiosks there aren't a lot of places for consumers to rent video games. The exception, of course, being thr

Please Pants Responsibly (Paper Notebooks FTW)

There are two ways to write a novel. Plotting (you make an outline, a plan, a roadmap if you will, and then you sit down and write it) and pantsing (you write "by the seat of your pants, throwing caution to the wind). So when I get asked if I'm a plotter or a pantser, I'm all like er, uh, hold on, let me? Pantser? I think? But I kind of, um, do planny things?
And it gets kind of awkward because in these inarticulate moments I have managed to confuse everyone including myself. And probably spilled a drink.
In recent discussions, however, I've had a bit of a revelation, silly as it is. I've realized that I -- like many writers -- am a plotter/pantser hybrid. And perhaps what I'm doing is something we could call Pantsing Responsibly. And, maybe, just maybe, I could share some of my responsible pantsing tips with other writers. Starting with paper notebooks.

SPIKE updatesJust thought I'd share with you guys some updates on the progress of finishing my "SPIKE" novel.

Lol its about time I wrote another journal entry. I don't really update this one as much as I should because I don't have the time. I'm busy with work and commissions and I socialise with my friends in the evenings so I don't get round to this.
Everyone have a good holiday? I had a nice Christmas and new year, it was quiet as always. I don't mind though. While I would like to see my local friends around that time, they all have their own friends and their own families to hang out with and my own family isn't that close so I'm just used to it and accept it.
So what's coming up this year and what goals have I set myself? Well first I want to pass my driving test! I've taken one and failed but it's quite rare to pass on the first time anyway so I'm not stressing over it. Over here it's hard to pass your test and you have a theory test before that that you have to pass as well. That consists of a written part (multiple choice questions that I passed EVERY time) and a video part (you click on the hazards and it took three tries for me to pass that) which was annoying. I wish I'd taken mine like 8 years ago before they introduced the video side of it.
Anyway that is my first and foremost goal because I can't get on with the rest of the things I set myself unless I pass my test. Once I've passed I can start saving to travel again. Being stuck in this town in this country all year has gotten me down and I want to go to Australia to visit my family there and also possibly back to America if it all works out. I also NEED to do more urban exploring and ghost hunts. My ghost hunting buddies are eager to go on some more investigations so I need to get in touch with my other friend to see when the next one is. And I need to get inside places and explore them. I might go and see my friend up country and go to some of the places he knows that are abandoned. I need a group or at least a guy to explore with in case I run into trouble. I also want to visit one of my other friends up country and go to a sci fi con with her. I've never been to a con before and I SO want to go and cosplay. I've found I love cosplaying and making my own costumes. So far I've been Wikus and Gambit and I want to do more. Mum wonders why I always dress as guys. Well it's because I want to be a guy. I'd rather be a guy than a woman but I'm female and have accepted that. Guys just have more fun lol! Also the costumes are easier for the male characters.

Anyway I also need to get my book published (I have procrastinated SO much over that) and finish the tarot deck and get that out there. I know people who want to buy it so I need to get it sorted.
BUT you may have noticed at the moment my gallery consists of this weird character who you're probably not familiar with called Kurtz. I will explain that now. Back in 2009 I was channel flipping and I came across a show called Freefonix on CBBC channel. It was about music and two bands who battled it out over control of music. The good band was Freefonix and they played electronic/pop and the bad guys were Mantyz, they played metal/rock and the lead singer is that guy, Kurtz. He's voice by the amazing Justin Hawkins (who is actually gunna reform his own band The Darkness and release a new album...SO EXCITE.) and I love Mantyz's music but sadly they never released an album and only released one full song; This Noise Destroys. Listen to it here if you want to know what I'm on about. And here is an animation of Kurtz I put together. So anyway the show was cancelled and never shown on TV since that. Then recently for some unknown reason, probably best known to the powers of the Universe, I got back into the show again, watched the few episodes on YouTube and got some Mantyz songs. And found I couldn't stop drawing Kurtz. Everything else I drew turned out wrong, only he seemed to work right. I can draw other things but mostly if Kurtz is on the same page. This has caused me a bit of trouble since it's a really odd art block. I can draw....but only Kurtz. It is starting to go now and I'm getting an urge to draw other things. I figured if I drew him as much as I could, the thing would wear off. So it seems to be working so far!

In other news I want to make a plushie of Silvolf. I've found some materials and I will buy them and make one! She will have to have a slightly different pattern though because of the markings on her face. I also haven't made a pricked up ears plush yet.

You might come to the US? Cool! Come visit me in Florida and then and we can visit St Augustine. It's one of the most haunted places in the US.

There was even a ghost hunters documentary on the Castillo de San Marcos fort in which ghosts were found.

It's a really fun place to visit and lots of places to explore there--plus mischief to get into as well! xD

Anywho, I hope all goes according to plan for you this year. You know I'm always around if you find yourself in a bind. I look forward to seeing all the new stuff you create this year and seeing your creativity expand. You're one of my greatest influences.^^
