-Technicolour Madness- by Silvolf -Technicolour Madness- by Silvolf
In other words, the OC Project I've been working so hard on these past three weeks! 45 of my original characters, those I use the most and are closest to me for various reasons.
This has been a huge undertaking for me. I wanted to draw a picture of them years ago, although traditionally on an A3 piece of paper. My art has improved since then though and I think I've done them justice now. They were all basically shaded, so as not to overcomplicate things, due to the number of them on the picture. I've also resized them all to scale as well. My two biggest OCs are the Eastern dragons, Dagatorra and Silvagon. The smallest characters are the Repulsator, Deazel and Oblivvion the Doom Kitty. And the others are all in between. To be honest, having them all on one thing clustered together, it doesn't look like there are very many of them. But there are.

From the upper left, they are:
Oblivvion the Doom Kitty
Dagatorra the Eastern dragon
Riktus Rinktus the Meta Bug
Midnyte Comet the Western dragon
Slasha Slyriss the Meta Bug
UrbEx the urban exploration robot
Silvagon the Eastern dragon
Mewtrorr the mutant

Second row from left:
A Repulsator
Chizu the Niff
Deazel the weasel
Zetarroth my inner vengeance dragon
Sterreo the Neonaark
Csentrifuuge the Neonaark
Crossfyr the Demidragon
Larval the human

Third row from left:
Badger the borzoi hybrid
R*P the human
Coridor the Neonaark
AvistA the Demidragon
Rakaen the Dradog
A silver Xeyhound
Trinity the Lizardog
Raxiss the radioactive rabbit
Katnip the cat

Fourth row from left:
Specter the ghost dog
Corey the human
Sunny the Equusleporid
Darry the dachshund
Skelliss the hybrid dog
Meo the purple cat-thing
Spyke the yellow cat-thing
Jedd the human
The Frozen Feline
Skribbles the sparkle dog
Silvolf

Fifth row from left:
Sino the Saluki
A black Xeyhound
Deamon Silvolf
Skylark the sparkle dog
Luxor the Sphynx cat
Snarl the Lizardog
Roy the Opossum
Mr Snuggles the Canofelis
Wix the raver

I wanted to have a coloured background without detracting from the characters so I went for pastels. Lots of the characters are very bright and 80s inspired since that's when I was born and I enjoy incorporating it into my work. Also the colours on my tablet laptop seem to show more dull than the backlit screens most of us have and thus the characters' colours are even brighter.
I want to get this printed on a t-shirt or a wall canvas. I love all my characters. These aren't even all of them. I have my book characters, ones I've adopted off others (although about three of these are adopts but I've had them some time and they are special to me) and other lesser used characters I didn't include here.
The nice thing is I have a master file for this so I can rearrange the characters as I like if I'm not happy with how they are here. This pic is scaled down 50% from the original.

I'm glad I finally completed this! And if I make any more characters I wish to add here, I can always do that.

Yes indeed, all my main ones not including book and adopted characters (well there are a couple of adopts in here but they are my fave ones). I was so proud when I finally finished this.

I'm glad of that, I'm afraid I clash things at times since I was never taught colour wheels and have had a bit of trouble learning them.

Lol she's halfway between a self representing character and a fan character so I didn't draw her here.

Wow, that are really a lot of characters. Looks like it was a lot of work to colour them all. Very cool, I only have a small number of own characters, hm I could try to draw them also all together some time. :D

It took three weeks lol! Tonight I was drawing and colouring another character to add to this picture. He should be on there tomorrow. I've always had loads of characters, though the ones I made when I was a kid I don't draw any more. You should draw yours together!

Yes, but I wouldn't let myself do anything else except this project (and the occasional commission) because I knew if I stopped working on it I might have not finished it. There are 43 characters in it! Also I need to add another one, Roy the Opossum!

Lol yes I did. I felt if they weren't shaded, I wouldn't be as proud of it. I wanted them to all be cartoony and shaded, it gives a better impact. It took about three weeks. I worked pretty much solidly on it, only pausing to do a commission, a trade and a picture of Feedback, which is in my gallery.
Purple is awesome! I find it goes with everything. I guess everyone has a favourite colour they use a lot. I'm not so keen on brown. I don't use it much. I don't even wear brown clothes lol! I find if I make a character in regular colours that are just normal and not bright and clashy, I never grow as close to the character. I love neons and glowwy things. Also, having had no real tutoring in colours, I find choosing colours that work together is hard. Though I am getting better at it, but that's more with clothes. The Neonaarks are my most 80s characters. I was born in '84 but over here in the UK, we had a lot of 80s things until about 1993 so I got to enjoy it for longer.

But the result was worth it. x> And now it's easy to add somebody if needed without drawing everyone again(IF you don't someday feel that your skills have developed and want to remake whole thing... x'> )
Brown clothes. *shudders* <_< Those, among pastel hues and green/orange/yellow is something I don't touch. ...
Talking about colouring characters, isn't the best thing just that which pleases yourself the most. True what you said, colours matter on how much we like our characters, and how much the colours make the character (if I studied psychology, this would be one nice topic for a master thesis or something).

Yes! Since I have the main file. I can change their placements on the picture as well if I wish and I also saved the files after I resized them too, so if I make that height chart, it will be easier. I found in recent years I like certain pieces of my art for longer than I used to and see less errors, which I suppose must mean I'm getting closer to a level of skill I'm happy with. I think now was the right time to do this picture. If I'd done it a few years ago like I originally intended, I would probably be redrawing them now lol!
I'll never forget when I was a kid, one of my friends wrote a story and she wanted to make the school uniforms in it as horrible as possible so she made them brown and orange.
Yes, I think it is. From a psychological point of view it would be very interesting and probably tell a person a lot about themself.

Brown and orange matches as well as olive green spots on salmon pink background...
Oh well, characters overall reflect something of their creator, whether we want it or not. I believe that people can't create (good) characters which have nothing in common with them. And we use mostly personality traits what we have ourselves - it's hard to think completely different way.

I totally agree there. All my characters have some part of my personality. We find it easiest to create what we know, and we also like characters we can relate to in some way. That's why I think we make characters with part of ourselves in them.

It was something I really had to work up the courage and effort for and dive right in and keep going till it was finished. Now it's done, I feel it's a real achievement but by the end of the colouring I was starting to feel a bit tired since I'd worked on it pretty much nonstop, only pausing to do a commission, trade and another pic. I need to get a price quote down town on getting this printed on canvas :D
Thanks for the :+fav:!
